Valencia's Business Leaders to Explore New Opportunities in Morocco During June Visit

A significant economic delegation from Spain’s Valencia region is set to visit Tangier on June 2nd and 3rd with the primary goal of deepening economic and commercial ties between Spain and Morocco. This strategic mission highlights the growing interest of both regions in reinforcing bilateral cooperation, fostering trade, and exploring new investment opportunities.

The delegation is organized through a collaborative effort involving the Valencia Chamber of Commerce, the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima Chamber of Commerce, and the Moroccan Consulate General based in Valencia. This partnership between regional chambers and diplomatic institutions underscores the commitment to fostering structured and sustainable economic collaboration between the two sides.

The official program kicks off on Monday, June 2, with an opening session scheduled for 9:30 a.m. at the main offices of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima Chamber of Commerce. This opening will provide a platform where institutional representatives and business leaders from both Spain and Morocco can share insights on regional development priorities and economic strategies. The session is expected to foster dialogue that will set the tone for productive exchanges throughout the visit.

Following the formal opening, the delegation will engage in a series of business-to-business meetings designed to encourage direct interaction between Spanish and Moroccan companies. These sessions aim to facilitate networking, partnership discussions, and potential joint ventures. This approach enables businesses to identify collaborative opportunities that align with their strategic goals, helping to drive growth and innovation on both sides.

This visit coincides with a period of strengthened economic relations between Morocco and Spain, marked by several recent developments. For example, on May 28, a set of investment agreements worth approximately 500 million Moroccan dirhams (around 50 million US dollars) were signed in the Moroccan capital between Moroccan authorities and companies from Catalonia. These agreements represent a major boost to economic collaboration and highlight the expanding presence of Spanish regional businesses in Moroccan markets.

These agreements are set to create more than 700 direct employment opportunities in several Moroccan cities, such as Tangier, Tetouan, and Kenitra. These job creations span several industries such as automotive manufacturing, waste management, industrial packaging, and construction materials, reflecting a diverse economic engagement that spans multiple value chains.

In conclusion, the forthcoming visit of the Valencia economic delegation to Tangier marks a significant milestone in the ongoing development of economic ties between Spain and Morocco. It reflects a shared commitment to fostering sustainable development, enhancing trade links, and promoting investment opportunities across a broad range of sectors. As regional players from both countries come together, this mission has the potential to generate significant economic benefits, create new jobs, and deepen the partnership between the two Mediterranean neighbors.
